I have a couple of those 55gal blue barrels I was going to use for watering the garden , ala catching rainwater. These barrels used to contain marinetex 200 antifreeze which is supposed to be environmentally safe yada yada yada....provided I rinse them should they be safe for that use?

Thankx

I am by far no expert, but I would not use them for that.

I would only use those barrels to store water in that would not come in contact (in any way) for human uses, besides flushing the stool. There are other uses for barrels that have had a chemical of some sort in them, but I cannot think of any now.

Do you have a MSDS on the antifreeze- Some nontoxic antifreezse is POLYethlyene glycol, which really is non toxic, and is used to treat wood salid bowls- no worries there.  In fact it is less toxic than table salt.
