Anyone use anything other than a conventional sprinkler or hose to water their crops? I'd love to see what you folks have going. There is alot of creativity here.

I installed an irrigation system, water is pumped from my pond.

I'm in the process of putting in dripline. So far it's working well for a line of trees we put in this season. Don't have it done yet for the vegetables.

I'm gonna mess with soaker hoses this year in an effort to save some H2O. I'm not ready for the drip system yet cause I move my garden and plant spacing around every year.

Soakers for the win. I'm a fan of soakers.

Okay, to be honest, I use some sprinklers on flower beds that are impossible to water otherwise, and that I get cute dragonfly-shaped sprinklers for...cuz I like the sprinkler as a garden ornament.

But for a veggie garden or production crop? Soakers.

Unless they're pots. Then drip, like Feral has going.

Drip is a PITA though. But a lot of people really like it. I hate the tangle of lines.
I'm lazy that way. It works, though. If you've got the patience for it.

How are you applying the water?  Drip, soaker, sprinkler or something else?

Rustee had a great post with pics. Wait a minute, I'll see if I can find it and link to it.

Looks like sprinklers, but I can't tell from the pics.

I'm using two sprinklers connected in series.  Both are mounted to the top of T-posts  via zip ties.  Working great so far.

I have the rainbird sprinkler heads every 50 ft, most of the system is burried except for the last 100 ft I just finished. About 800 ft so far.

I'm going with soaker hoses... I'll run a main line down 1 end of the garden and T off from there...My garden is only about 20x30 and is mulched good so I shouldnt be losing a lot..

Just finished a rainwater catchment setup off 1 side of a building that fills a 330 gal tank and I put a pump in the tank for pressure...Still gotta put gutter on the other side and another tank... 330 gals wont last long between rains during our dry spells..

we have a 1/2 acre pond, about 300 feet uphill from our garden. i bought a few 100 foot water hoses, ran it from the pond to the garden. when i want to water, i turn on the nozzle, and it syphons from the pond, and gives me free water for when we need dont get enough rain. also, i just took a classic blue plastic barrel, and attached a water hose spicket to it. when i want to water my fruit trees, i place it in my lawn and garden trailer, behind the mower, fill it from the syphon hose, and then i have 55 gallons of water to pull around, just turn on the hose, and water, drive to the next tree, etc. ill throw a picture up later. total cost, $6.00 for a used barrel, i already had a old spout, and water hose.
