And uses the hell out of it? I bought one a few weeks ago, I dont know how I have lived this long without one I am single now, and dont eat bread as much as I used to, but I can make a loaf of bread in this thing for next to nothing and it is small enough that I eat it before it goes bad. Found it for $20 at a new and used store, it didnt have a book or anything, I could have probably gotten it for less but it was a good deal. I googled the make and model, and found youtube videos on how to use it. I love fresh bread |

Nope, mine's kaput. It threw the belt 5 minutes into the kneading cycle. I was in the process of making old fashioned oatmeal bread. It sounded good. Now I'm shifting over to a traditional method. We'll see how that goes. I just wish I had a wood-fired oven ready to go. That's on my list, somewhere below finishing the basement. |

We were buying a box mix for the sweat bread. We also tried making it ourselves from a recipe we found but it wasn't nearly as good. I can't find the recipe we used for Dill bread but it was also very good. Used fresh cut dill for it and it smelled up the whole house. |
That is one of the premix stuff they sell at Martins/Giant foods, the brand name is Kruzteaz I think. Havent tried it yet, I have me another try at a sougher dough starter going, I hope it turns out better than the last one |
Other than one scratch recipe I've only used Krusteaz. I've had good success with them. I've not tried their sourdough. The one thing I love about fresh bread is the custom slices I can do for paninis. My mom (the bibliophile that she is) knew I had a machine and loved it. She found 2 books at a library sale called Electric Bread and More Electric Bread. Full of recipe's for all kinds of breads. Gotta love mom |

I don't eat a lot of bread, and when I do buy it, half of it gets thrown to the birds. I wonder if I should look into getting one of those machines? If I can make smaller loafs, then that may be the best deal for me ? I've seen some killer recipes out there, so I guess I will take the plunge. Any recommendations for a not-too pricey machine for a single guy that would be a good starter set up? |
