And uses the hell out of it? I bought one a few weeks ago, I dont know how I have lived this long without one

I am single now, and dont eat bread as much as I used to, but I can make a loaf of bread in this thing for next to nothing and it is small enough that I eat it before it goes bad.

Found it for $20 at a new and used store, it didnt have a book or anything, I could have probably gotten it for less but it was a good deal. I googled the make and model, and found youtube videos on how to use it.

I love fresh bread

I've got one that we used all the time.  We used to make a fresh loaf of bread for dinners and when it comes out of the machine all nice and hot, it is awesome.  My favorite bread from the machine is Hawaiian sweet bread.

Ramy, that sounds great...do you have a recipe for the Hawaiian sweet bread ?

My wife uses ours occassionally, and then it's like....wow....why am i not using it.

We also use it to make pizza dough that we store in the freezer.

I am making a loaf right now. I remember at the market I used to be able to find pre made mixtures for sourdough bread, have not been able to find it anymore though.

My parents had one. They used it for about 1 year, then packed it away... after gaining 20 pounds!

Ours threw the belt. I know I fixed it once, and I can't remember if it stayed fixed or if it broke.

I think I might try to bake some bread this afternoon.

+ 1.

Also, anyone else have any other recipes that they have found to be especially good?

Nope, mine's kaput. It threw the belt 5 minutes into the kneading cycle.

I was in the process of making old fashioned oatmeal bread. It sounded good. Now I'm shifting over to a traditional method. We'll see how that goes.

I just wish I had a wood-fired oven ready to go. That's on my list, somewhere below finishing the basement.

We were buying a box mix for the sweat bread.  We also tried making it ourselves from a recipe we found but it wasn't nearly as good.

I can't find the recipe we used for Dill bread but it was also very good.  Used fresh cut dill for it and it smelled up the whole house.

Haven't used mine in a year.  I like the bread I make by hand better.

That is one of the premix stuff they sell at Martins/Giant foods, the brand name is Kruzteaz I think. Havent tried it yet, I have me another try at a sougher dough starter going, I hope it turns out better than the last one

I use mine quite a bit during this time of year, helps to keep it cool instead of firing up the big oven.

Other than one scratch recipe I've only used Krusteaz.  I've had good success with them.  I've not tried their sourdough.  The one thing I love about fresh bread is the custom slices I can do for paninis.

My mom (the bibliophile that she is) knew I had a machine and loved it.  She found 2 books at a library sale called Electric Bread and More Electric Bread.  Full of recipe's for all kinds of breads.  Gotta love mom

The boxed mixes you get in the grocery stores are pretty good and somewhat foolproof.  Just brush up on the directions that came with your machine.  Mine is add the water, add the mix, make a dimple in the top and add the yeast.

I have a 2lb machine so as far as this recipe is concerend it's a regular loaf.  The recipe's in this book are mostly regular and large.  Regular is 12 cups capacity and Large is 12-16.  Use a liquid measure to determine yours.  I've not tried this so if anyone likes it let me know.  I've got a ton of tomatoes and basil to try it with.

I use my machine for gluten free bread,

lot easier than trying to do it from scratch (xanthan gum is sticky)

wife loves it, (she's celiac)

takes about 4hrs to do a loaf, and there's several different mixes out, (glutino is the easiest)

I don't eat a lot of bread, and when I do buy it, half of it gets thrown to the birds. I wonder if I should look into getting one of those machines? If I can make smaller loafs, then that may be the best deal for me ? I've seen some killer recipes out there, so I guess I will take the plunge. Any recommendations for a not-too pricey machine for a single guy that would be a good starter set up?
