My girl the other day came up with a great idea to cook a seafood chowder for dinner. She is from the Connecticut area and is really handy in the kitchen. So we set out to come up with our own recipe. Quite easy to make and tastes amazing, so Id like to share....
Ingredients (serves about 8 to 10) Cost $60ish Publix Miami FL.
1lb of fresh Cod or white meat 1lb of fresh shrimp .5lb of scallops (used bay for price) 1 can of crab meat 1 can of clam meat 1.5lbs of Yukon gold potatoes 2 celery stalks 1 medium yellow onion 4 tablespoons unsalted butter 3 tablespoon all-purpose flour 2 dried bay leafs 2 1/2 cups half-and-half 2 1/2 cups water 2 bottles of clam juice Coarse salt, freshly ground pepper, nutmeg, and old bay seasoning 1 bag of oyster crackers

First chop up potatoes in healthy bite sized squares. Followed by chopping celery stalks and onion to 1/2 inch thick chunks.

Melt butter in a large stockpot over medium heat. Add onion and celery, and cook, stirring frequently, until onion is translucent, about 4 minutes.

Add flour, and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds.

Add the clam broth and the potatoes, bay leafs. Cover, and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until the potatoes are tender, 10 to 12 minutes.
Uncover, and add your prepared seafood. Add water and Cover. Simmer until cooked through, about 3 minutes.

Add half-and-half, the reserved clams, and crab meat
season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and Old Bay to taste. Heat through, but do not return to a boil.

ENJOY! Add Oyster crackers if desired...
