Just an FYI... when out hunting last weekend I threw a couple of power bars into my pack. Out in the field I was halfway through one when I realized it was from an old stash. Expiration date 1998... and it still tasted fine and didn't make me sick.

Generally the expiration dates on them are about 1 year. I ate bars a year past the expiration date frequently and they are fine.
