Newbee -  but wholly on board.

Want to store some bulk rice.  I thought I read to freeze your rice for a number of days before packing in mylar w/o2 absorbers, but...

Won't you get condensation/moisture in the rice after it comes out of the freezer
(possible causing mold/botulism/rot of some kind)

Thanks

Some people think you won't get condensation and moisture.  I do and so I don't freeze it.  The mylar and 02 absorbers is going to kill everything that the freezing would, so I don't see the point there either.

being a lifelong consumer of rice, i would suggest just packing them in food savers at best....

rice being shipped here from asia takes a long time to get here being shipped transatlantic by boat..... as long as they are dry and sealed, they are GTG.....

BTW, never heard of uncooked rice being frozen and i guess u are right when u freeze it , moisture will be an enemy if u pack them.... just seal them in bags  and u can store them for a long time....IMHO.....

We keep one chest type freezer full of beans, pasta, rice, flour, meal, sugar, & dry milk. Seal every bag with a new 6 mil 'overwrap' before putting in away. Still using pre-Y2K stock with no issues.  Temp is held just below freezing - not the deep subzero temps.
