Hey everyone, I have a couple of questions. I'm looking at making some survival gear for myself. For now I want to first make a rigger's belt and a couple of other things. I have seen a couple of rigger belts and I see a few different type of D rings. I see one that looks like a triangle. I also see the standard style D and O ring.

Can someone tell me where I can find different style D rings? I know I need a heavy duty D rings for it to function in the manor it was meant for. I'm sure I can go locally to a hardware store and find these but I'm looking for online sources too.

Also is there any other company making buckles beside Austria Alpin? I have read a lot of good things on their Cobra buckle but would like other options if there is any.

Also any good sources for webbing? Also fabric?

I have an idea in my head for a second project. It is a wallet organizer. I want to make one of these to replace my wallet that I have now.

Thanks everyone in advance for any and all comments and advice.

rockywoods fabric has 2 inch mil webbing and all the fastex hardware. cant help you on the metal hardware.

also..

you machine will have to be decent to make a good riggers belt (two layers of 2 or 1.5 ..plus extra to mount hardware),

in other words strong enough.

that said. i own three machines...nothing "heavy duty" but i am on my second round of getting them serviced.

that means if you steal your wifes machine ..and jam it up good trying to punch through 1/4 of webbing/1000d  and throw the timing off etc..

your gonna be going to a dedicated sewing shop to have it serviced. with a wife going wtf i s wrong with my machine.

i mostly make tarps and small nylon items (500d-1000d stuff if im brave  )

Hey thank you Protus. I'm not married so I wont be taking the wife's machine. I will be going with an industrial machine. I have sewed a few things with an old Singer sewing machine that would sew through the thick stuff. You could hear it bogging down so I know I need a machine that will take doing the heaver stuff.

Also I had seen Rocky Woods fabric but I do not know anyone who has used them. So thanks, I will check into them for somethings more now.

I have an email in to a local fabric shop here that does classes and sales sewing machines. I'm going to see if I can get in a couple of classes and use the machine that I will be using.
