Pack Rabbit

Has any one used one? How hard? Is it high quality. I like the concept of it and it looks like a good multi purpose frame. All I have is a ALICE frame and shelf for an external framed pack.

My first reaction was to marvel at how light the weight was for the people in their own video.  The one indication of serious weight is a fleeting glimpse of a military ruck on the frame.  Seems the ability to improve the carry and handling of heavy weights should be the primary selling point for a frame like that.  Instead, we see day packs.

Also, no mention of weight for the thing itself... maybe it's on their site?

Looks like a solution in search of a problem - and one that doesn't look very comfortable, to boot.

I looked for a weight on it and didn't see one.

They are selling pack and frame combos that look around the size of a medium ALICE pack.

The seat part and the cargo shelf is what got my attention.

From their website FAQ's it says The large frame weighs 4.2 lbs. and the small frame weighs 1.9 lbs.

And how much does an aluminum ALICE frame weigh?

Less than that I think. I'll have to weigh mine tomorrow if I get the chance.

I really like the seat idea but if it's heavier and not able to carry a load then it should probably be passed over.

From what I could find online at the Backpackinglight web forum the ALICE frame is 32oz. For comparison the Mystery Ranch NICE frame measures 12.5" x 21" and weighs 4 lbs 12 oz.

EDIT: I believe the ALICE weight stated is bare frame with no pads or straps.

As crappy as the stock ALICE straps and kidney belt is, I can't see it adding up to that much.

I fail to see the point of the seat.

Flop back on your ruck to rest.  If you have time to take it off and get real comfy, just sit on the damned thing. Problem solved.  Problem staying solved.

Well that is one way of doing it.

I bought one used that I waas planning on replacing my alice with, but it never made it out of the setup stage.... the shoulder straps sucked, the belt blew and major mods would be needed to adapt alice or molle straps to the frame to improve it.

I'd be glad to off load mine if you really want to try one.

Can you post pics of the issues you had or the suckage that caused you grief? I am sure I'm not the only one who has considered this thing it may clarify the problems or positives to everyone.
