I have a chance to get a Eberlestock Operator Pack (G4M) - Legacy Pack with Aluminum Stays for under $300. Should I do it. Also able to get the halftrack for about $190 to keep in the BOV. Any thoughts? Anyone have either of them and would care to chime in?

Can the rifle section be removes or is it stitched in on the G4? Cant seem to find the right info on that.

That's a great price for that pack. I just recently got my hands on the Operator and was really impressed by the quality.

The pack was designed for military use so it has many different pouches and compartments to separate your gear.

The advantage to this is you wont have to pull everything out of your pack when you want something. The disadvantage is that less compartments would allow for more space overall.

The pack also weighs about 10 lbs. by itself but when sized to your body is very comfortable. The bottom of the scabbard folds in when not in use and the pull out rain cover works very well.

That is not a bad price on the packs if they are in good condition. The rifle scabbard can't be removed on the Operator (it is stitched in). The halftrack is also a good pack. If you are looking to carry a weapon like on the operator, a phantom would be worth a look. The scabbard on those are removable and is the same as the halftrack as far as the pack layout.

I have an operator and absolutely love it for longer trips.
