How many of you keep a supply of tarps as part of your preps?  What sizes?

I keep a stack of them in my work shop...  All different sizes and colors.  I  use a lot for firewood so I actually need to grab a few more.

I keep a supply of tarps for work and day to day. I keep a 10'x10' in a dump pouch on a long term BOB, one or two 10'x10' stay in the tool box in the bed of my truck, and I must have another 15 of various sizes for leaf clean up, emergency roof covering (roofing and a storm rolls in), equipment etc. Harbor Freight (while I know is terrible for most stuff) has a few dozen sizes in blue, brown and camo, and there at decent prices. I've been meaning to pick up a small (4'x4') or something of the sorts to throw in my daily pack/ truck bag / GHB, but don't really see them that small often. It would come in handy because I've been caught on a small fishing boat in the rain more than once this season, and it would be nice to keep me AND my gear dry.

Seriously though, I have a 10x10, a 10x20, and a 15x30, plus enough poles and paracord to make a fairly comfy shelter with plenty of room for cooking. I always figured on setting the tarps up, then setting up a tent under the tarps for sleeping if TSHTF and I had to leave my apartment for some reason, whether on the huge empty field by my building (I'm talking 10 empty acres), or heading for the national forest that's about 15 minutes from me and diving into the backwoods.

I was thinking the same thing when the tree out back was making cracking noises during the hurricane.   A hole in the roof would be rather inconvenient.

I keep a bunch in my garage, a couple in my trunk with the GHB and and also a few unopened as part of SHTF gear.  Mostly 8x10 and 10x10 but also a few larger sizes.

How about some 4 mil plastic sheething?  I got a roll from Depot before Irene to place at my basement door with sand bags. Not sure of the measurements but it was about $45/roll.

Does a sil-nylon tarp count?

I should probably pickup some more of the home depot blue ones. Too cheap and too many uses to not stock up on.

I have several ranging from 6x6 to 30x30.

I miss the heavy old canvas painters drop clothes we had back in the 60's-70's.

you can still buy them at sherwin williams or ben moore ––really at any"real" paint stores

I purchased back when times were better cash wise a 1/2 dozen tarps at big lots in various sizes -I'm sure they are the cheap quality ones but better than nothing ––still in the plastic wrap sitting on a shelf ready for action
