Johnson and Johnson First-Aid Kit
Our local Wal-Mart has stacks of these on a display by the entrance. More stacks back in the pharmacy area. They were priced at $9.99 or so. It's tailored more toward the simple boo-boos, and I know it's not a super deluxe home surgery VOK kit, but for $10 it's a good start and the case alone gives you room to expand and add/subtract items. If you're looking for some place to start, this could get you going for a failry cheap investment. Maybe throw one in each of the cars, garage, shed, etc. At $10 it would be an easy set and forget type kit. |

We bought three of these. I pulled out the internal divider and cardboard boxes from two of the kits and combined the stuff we need. Then I added larger sterile pads, quick clot, better bandage shears, tweezers, bandages, ace bandage, splints, better gloves, hand sanitizer etc. It is now our primary first aid kit that sits in the basement next to our BOBs and other critical gear.
The 3rd we keep upstairs under the sink in our bedroom (my wife kept bringing the big kit upstairs). These boxes hold a lot of stuff if you pull out the organizer and dead space. Plus they can be compressed and locked close so they do make a very nice first aid kit container as a start for a first aid kit. If I get a second, I will see if I can get pics of our first aid kits and post them here. |
| I bought a few of these a couple years ago. I added some essentials that were missing and placed them in a backpack that goes in each vehicle. Backpack includes blankets, fleece, hand warmers (during winter), chem lights, flash light, and some food/water that gets rotated as needed. |

Nice little kit for $10.
I haven't found any kit I didn't have to add stuff too. Still when it comes down to it, a first aid kit is like any other prep, prepare for the most likely scenario first and least likely last. Planning to fix a bullet wound while you die from an infection from a scratch is not too wise. Tj |
