| So I work 36 miles from home. Looking for a nice get home bag to keep in my car to get me home.... I have looked at the La Police Gear 3 day pack.... Also the Tactical Tailor 3 day special pack on Grey Ghost Outlet.... Any experience with the two? I have heard a few complaints of stuff breaking on the La pack? Internet hear-say? I need to stay around that price in my budget, between 30-70.00, so obviously I can't get a 5.11 or Maxpedition..... I would like to hear everyones thoughts... Thanks alot! |

I got an LA Gear 3-day pack back in like April 2010, loaded it up and kept it in my truck's toolbox for the past 9 months. I pulled it out a month or so ago, and the stitching at the end of the hydration port had started coming unraveled. It's a bad design there for a stresspoint; there's nothing but the stitching carrying the weight across the seam at the end of the ports where the stress is concentrated if you're lifting by the top grabhandle and your pack is loaded. I also got a USGI SDS Assault Pack used off of Ebay for roughly the same price, and I would rate it head and shoulders above the LAPG pack for durability. It's a little smaller, and doesn't have the internal divider pockets, but the hydration ports have a plastic reinforcing "plate" stitched all the way around the opening, so that particular pet peeve of mine isn't a concern for the USGI pack. It's heavy, though, and I haven't done a hike/camp or anything with it yet, but I have no doubts I'll like it better than the LAPG bag. Hope that helps some. |

I have a LAPG Tactical Bail Out Gear Bag and another on order (going on 2 months now ). It seems to be pretty well put together, but I haven't really stressed it much; It just sits there on the back seat of the car. It holds a lot more than I thought it would, but a couple of the smaller pouches had me scratching my head about what to put in them because they were so small. I ended up with nitrile gloves in one and spare batteries in the other.
I also have a LA Police Gear 3 Day Backpack an the quality is just OK. As long as you don't overload it, I think it would hold up just fine. My GF "appropriated" my LAPG Diplomat Tactical 2-Day pack (no longer sold) last year and used it as a carry-on for a trip to Kalifornia from Florida. She said everyone, including strangers, wanted to know where she got it because she could walk down the isle without hitting everyone and it easily stowed in the carry-on compartment. Besides that, I couldn't believe how much stuff she put in that thing. Even though she loaded it up with clothes & such, I doubt any of these packs are going to survive 87 loaded P-mags, 14 claymores, a couple granola bars, and a pair of skivies.
Here's a thread on the LAPG 3 day pack. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=10&f=18&t=631849&light= BTW, if you do decide to order from LAPG, order nothing but the item you really want. I've found that if you order something (especially if it's on sale) & throw in a couple of "extras" like a moral patch, or something on "clearance", chances are pretty good that one item in your order will end up on back-order for a couple of months, holding up everything else. I've had a couple of orders canceled after about 3 months because a single $5 item was "back-ordered." YMMV |
