Looking for a good hand held gps, hopefully one with a good bit of memory and that show topo or 3D.  Yall have any suggestions?  Oh and price is a factor, so I want to keep it as low as possible and still get what I want.

Yep....

That being said, here comes mine. I just got a Garmin 60CSx for Christmas and love it. It is currently about $250 at Bass Pro and includes the topo maps DVD for the whole country and a USB cord. In honesty, you get about a $400 value in this bundle pack. The biggest selling point for me is that is it both mac and PC compatible. PM me if you want more info about it.

I got a Delorme PN-40 for Christmas.  This thing is AWESOME.  I have been using it for Geocaching and it is very accurate.  $200 on Amazon and comes with a ton of maps.  You can get topo, Sattalite images etc.  Miles better than my old garmin.

+5 million on the Delorme, and mine is an older model I bought when they first came out.  I need a new one.

Whats your intended purpose.
Since we're in the SF, I'm assuming you want to use it in that kind of scenario,
Given that, go with a wrist unit.
edit: its an older unit at this point, but my Magellan Platinum has never let me down.

+1

I love mine.  Picked it up for $200 at cabelas (original was $400+/-).  So far have only used it on a short hike and geocaching around town (best way to learn how to use your GPS).  The 60CSx is on closeout at most locations.  Look at Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops.  It's been replaced by the new garmin 62 series.  I haven't heard much in the line of reviews for the 62 series yet.

If you go with the 60CSx and need good maps look at GPSfiledepot.com  (too lazy to hotlink it).  good topos for free.
