I'm looking for something to place in my backpack for back-up.
Something that doesn't weigh alot but something that actually works.
I spend alot of time in the woods.

Any recommendations or stuff to stay away from.

Backup for what and what kind of radio are we talking? Weather, two way communication, am/fm/shortwave? You need to be more specific as to what you are talking about.
