Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker of the Survival section (lurked long before membership) and I saw this deal on Amazon for Solar Panels. It's still out of my budget right now but I figured someone might be able to benefit from it.  I know very little about solar panels so hopefully it's good and ends up being a steal for someone.

Thanks, out of my budget right now as well, tagging for later.

Not bad.  I wonder if I can link it up with my 45 watt kit from Harbor Freight.

Currently comparing it with some of the other stuff mentioned in other solar threads.

Thanks for the link, not sure if I will get it but it is darn close to what I am wanting for my first setup and for batteries I am leaning hard towards the golf cart batteries.

About 4 dollars per peak watt is  par these days.
I would shy away from anything packaged or marketed in  "KIT" form.

To poor now for that

by your numbers that means this "kit" is a deal. $4 per watt and 60w means in panels alone your at $240. this kit is $290 so that means your paying $50 for a charge controller, mounting frames, 200w inverter, and wiring kit. not a bad deal even according to you. BUT, you can find single 60w panels for less. for some reason im thinking $4 a w is a little on the high side. i think you can do better than that. but of course, not all solar panels are created equal and dont put out the same amperage.

I would just go get another one of the Harbor Freight kits for $159.99.
(In fact, I did )

But, I suppose you could link this one up to your existing kit.

The free shipping is nice as well.

I have not ordered it and don't know if I will.  I kind of expect lots of sales for the rest of this year with the way obama's recovery is causing jobs to still be lost.

I have one of those kits and love it.  Do you think the included charge controller can handle all 6 panels or do you need to somehow rig them together?

I have all 6 panels running through mine. No problems.
I checked the input and output with a multitester, voltages are correct and not fuses blown.

I still don't really like the controller, I am going to upgrade to a solar batteryminder.
I bought one on e-Bay, but it turned out to be the 15 watt controller, not the 180watt unit he advertised. (Lucky he gave me a refund).
