I bought a great german wool surplus blanket from Sportsmans Guide.
It looks exactly like this one:

Very warm and itchy.

These are the best blankets out there. I love all of mine. I have 6 of them. They will get passed down to my kids.

Almost any military surplus company should have these blankets. I looked on gunnyssurplus.com and they have some for $25...

Not all wool blankets are the same.

I think the best value out there today is the italian officers blanket:

There are other places that have this blanket. Its a good replacement for the (at this time rare) german one.

I would agree. I have a bunch of these also. They are thin, but are well made and wool.

Ahh ok. I wasn't aware that there was that big of a difference. I was just looking for 100% wool. Thanks for that link though.

I ordered one of the italian surplus wool blankets as well as one of the new itialian mil blankets (double the price) to see what I like better.  Ill stock up on whichever I like better.  Ill let you all know their condition once I get them.

Since I just ordered a couple of German blankets, and I don't want them to get swamped with orders, I won't mention Omaha's Surplus...

I have one that just got chewed up by the dog last night.    It's the nicest blanket I have, but they're almost freaking unobtainium, so I went ahead and ponied up the $40/ea for two more from Omahas.

I have a GI blanket. it's stamped with a big 'U.S.' on one side of it.  it's not itchy, it's not the warmest out there, but it works better than any other blanket i have used.  Too bad the gf steals it all the time.
