| Hi, my load out seems a bit heavy for me. I can haul it but my lower back feels like a weak area. I have heard former military guys complain about back pain. That's something I'd like to avoid. I have never worn one but would a weight lifting belt or anything else work? |

Please don't try to use a weightlifter's belt or any other wild concoction like that, you'll give yourself a hernia.
* Lighten your pack * Buy a better pack * Work out, you don't have to join a gym or anything, just load your pack and hike around. 1/3 weight at first, then 1/2, then 3/4, you get the general idea. |

Back pain usually is caused by a poorly fitting or improperly adjusted pack. Or it could just be a POS. A decent pack will have enough quick adjustments to allow you to redistribute the weight between shoulder and hips in a matter of seconds, all while on the move. |

My bag is a very large Timbuk2 messenger bag. There are only clothes in there now so it's light.
The heavy part are the 6 mags and water pouch on the plate carrier and the AK. I guess I'll just walk around home with it on and adjust myself to the weight. I did that with the AK and in a couple of months, I got used to it there. I just feel the strain on my lower back or hips and am thinking I could be setting myself for a long term injury. . |
