Alot of people who might have to bug out ( hurricane, floods, ect ) will probably want to take their laptop with them. So does anybody have a link to where one can buy a good bug out worthy laptop carry bag or case ? Can be either hard or soft. Backpack style also.
The cases and bags that Office Depot and Best Buy sell are cheap garbage.
Looking for one for a 17" . TIA, Nick

This is what I use (got it from the local Staples):

It carries the laptop and everything I need (including a USB harddrive backup of the Network storage).

THIS!!! Company I work for sales a LOT of these things (one of our Marine Corps contracts alone was over 200 bags) and we all got issued one from work. I've got mine in Khaki. GREAT bag. I give it 2 thumbs up

I have no personal experience with this bag.  If you decide to buy it, take some pics and write us a review

I have a Swiss Gear laptop backpack. Works great, and very sturdy. I would take it anywhere.

for a real durable case, it has to be a hard case. I've cracked a laptops carrying it in a (laptop) backpack to class and into the front seat of my pickup.  canot imagine what would happen if i was actually rough with it.

That looks good and the price is right but I don't think a 17" laptop will fit in it.
Thanks to all for all the replies.

the tactical tailor day pack is a great piece of gear and can hold a bunch of other stuff too.  Its large enough to hold my dell d820 however big that is.

Hey Forest:  What power supply/inverter is that behind your laptop, and what kind of usage time wise do you get from it.

Thanks
Peter

PS - I have a cheap backpack/shoulder bag from Kingsington that I bought at Office Depot about 7 years ago - So you can find nice bags there.

That's a B&D Car Jumper thingy.  My Laptops power supply can run from AC or DC and I was testing it there on the DC.  At the time of the test the unit was less than half charged so I was just running it down before recharging it.  I think I got 30 min off the partially charged unit.   The pic was taken in response to ShaneS's thread on Katrina I was testing out the USB TV receiver with my laptop, the battery pack was a last minute idea.

Voodoo tactical makes one that seems pretty nice. I glanced at it at the last gunshow, but was in a hurry, so I didn't pay too much attention to it.

It has hard sides and appears to hold a larger laptop.

I wouldn't worry about quality, because Voodoo makes some good stuff. I am familiar with several of ther products.

The Dell bags are tough as hell.  Much better quality than their computers.  I've hauled all sorts of survival equipment in mine for five years and a million miles.   They are inexpensive and work great.  No need to buy anything more "Tactical" then Dell, dude.

I"ve got a Dell backpack case for my work laptop.  I gotta agree they are nice, and very well made.

I use a leather laptop backpack.  This doubles as my brief case as well as a small GHB.

Its a great concept that I have used now for over 3 years.  Though mine is setup for unexpected over nights, it can easily hold three days worth of light gear in addition to my normal work stuff.

There's all kinds of variations of this concept now ranging from $100-$300.

I like the leather.  Its comfortable, durable, and provides much better protection than the nylons.

For daily laptop-toting, I use a backpack... an older Kelty.

For all my deployments and across-the-country/globe laptop carry, it's pelican all the way.
