You're all bastards, you know that? Six months ago, I was a happy, lightly armed little pseudo-sheep. Now my gunsafe is full, I can't actually find all the flashlights I've bought, I have not one but TWO grain mills, a second backpack as a BOB, and I'm working on building up some food stores (got about a months worth put up so far). I've started collecting survival/camping things. And it's all y'alls fault! Now here's what's happened... I bought a fake (Chinese) Esbit stove. Figured out it wasn't the 'real' thing. Went to Esbit's website. Found out they make alcohol cookers too. I already have a several Swedish surplus ones, and a full Trangia kit (25-5 UL). Now I want, no, I NEED, an Esbit kit. It has orange bits! It'll add to the collection Can't find a single place on the Intertubes that sells them in the US. This sucks... Bastards. ![]()

I believe that Dicks sporting goods has the fuel blocks for the esbit stoves. I have use the GI fuel bars and they worked fine. I haven't used a liquid fuel stove but I like the idea since I can usually find some source of liquid fuel so plan on building a stove out of a Pepsi can. As far as stocking up you sound like you are on the right track with a great start but you have to remember to pace yourself. You may not need that stuff for years or maybe never. Don't get burned out. A good way to keep on top of your preps is training and practical use. Training can be things like firearms classes, first aid,emt classes, maybe karate or even cardio training. Then for practicals that would be things like camping trips, 3 gun shoots, hunting, growing a vegetable garden or anything that makes you use your prepared items up. Keep what works and what you don't use or doesn't work as intended should discarded. From one BASTARD to another good luck. |
REI advertises them on their website, and one of the Army Navy stores in my area has current production genuine esbit fuel too. If you want some, let me know and I'll see if I can hook you up. Like Para said, I use trioxane bars with mine too. A single trioxane bar is perfect for cooking a canteen cup of soup. The only downside to them is that they leave a nasty black residue where the bar was. |

It sounds like you need fuel for the Esbit stove. The best place I have found is called BestGlide. All kinds of good stuff. Look under the Food Prep tab. Here is a link: www.bestglide.com/esbit_stove.html Good luck. |
No, no, I already have an Esbit solid fuel stove and plenty of fuel for it... I want one of these to compliment my Trangia set... I'm just collecting the stuff now. It's an illness. |

OOOh I like!!!! We do carry the real Esbits (solid fuel) if y'all are looking. Cliff Esbit @ Go Time Gear |
Speaking of bastards, I could have gone through life quite nicely without seeing this. Now, you've got me wanting one. My wife is even thinking about getting it. Bastard!! |
