| I'm looking to pick up a SHTF type Radio reciever, FM, AM SW you know. I think $100- $150 is my budget what are the best values? Suggestions? I'm thinking about the ETON S350 Deluxe, Anyone have one of these? |
| ccrane Check the radios out at this place. I have the ccradio and the 909. |
The Sony line of portable SW radios are worth looking at - I have an older model Sony SW that I have drug all over the world and its still working. Runs a very very long time on battery's. Other end of the spectrum but this radio has been discussed here a couple times with many positive reviews and opinions. I dont own one yet but I am sorta using my VX6R as a SHTF radio. |
No it's not, I live so rural that there isn't anywhere left to bug out to, LOL |
On my radio SW1 is 120m-41m and SW2 is 31m-11m. I don't actually do any SW listening so I can't speak for the broadcasts on one as opposed to the other, but most receivers come with both, no reason to compromise. |
For about $180, the Yaesu VX-3R includes a general-coverage receiver that receives every AM or FM signal from 0.5 to 1000 MHz (including the shortwave bands, CB, NOAA weather, Public Service, Marine VHF, FRS, MURS) - not to mention transmit capability on two of the most popular ham bands. Has 1,000 programmable memory channels, and includes a Li-ion rechargeable battery and AC charger (DC power cable/charger optional).![]() |
the VX-3R RX current is spec'd at 50mA. ergo... at least 20 hrs of RX with the supplied 1000mAh LiIon pack. at least 50 hrs of RX with three 2500mAh NiMH AA batteries in the optional 3xAA holder. there are additional details on page 8 of the VX-3R manual PDF, available via the Yaesu website... yaesu.com/downloadFile.cfm?FileID=2740&FileCatID=151&FileName=VX%2D3R%5FOperating%5FManual.pdf&FileContentType=application%2Fpdf ar-jedi |
