I posted this in Equipment, but there was not much input. My thoughts were along the line of using some surplus Molle II stuff for Get Home Bags, maybe a Bug Out Bag, and possibly a patrol the area bag. The prices seem OK for some stuff, so I would like to gather some thoughts. Overall I am not worried about covertness for this particular venture. Link As per ARF standards I have a Med Alice that I will be playing with, but I have seen little about the Molle II packs. Since I am not intending to haul really heavy loads, I don't know if frame cracking is much of an issue. Thoughts? |

Most of the cracked frames I've seen in the last five years in the 101st have been ones thrown out of trucks/helicopters onto hard surfaces like concrete driveways. I like it because it was the first ruck we ever had that was designed (in conjunction with its LBV) for the waist belt to be USED as opposed to just taped back onto the frame. I've done 100+ pounds with it bac when I was in Weapons Squad, no issues with the pack. The load, yeah, anyone who says a hundred pounds is no problem is either an idiot or a masochist, but the bag held. If you get one, read the manual (available online as a .pdf), adjust it, and there are a couple modifications I could suggest for it if you have an obliging parachute rigger nearby. |
