I work in a residential building in Manhattan, and people throw out all kinds of stuff. The other night I came across this and took it home. I looked on the inside of the bag and the outside but, I didn't see a brand name anywhere.

The inside has a lot of space consisting of the main cavity and one large pouch. There are also three large pouches on the outside of it and an external metal frame. All the buckles, rings, buttons and fasteners are metal. It looks like its in good condition except for a couple of loose threads here and there as shown in pic.3 but nothing major (no holes or rips).

That would be a medium ALICE pack. Good find.

yea good find...

I had to hump one of those when in the Marines and hated it...the new ones are much better but for that price you got a great pack! and the frame too!

edit to add I am amazed what people throw away

Upon further inspection, I found a bunch of serial numbers and the name Eastern Canvas Products inc. stamped on the inside of the left shoulder strap. Haven't Googled the company yet though.

lol, you have no idea. It's an upscale building $3000 a month for a studio so these people have dough. I've seen mail with all types of personal info on it.

even more amazing is that there is someone who doesnt know what an ALICE pack is. amazing. they sell for about $60 new and are often given away by recently seperated soldiers and Marines.

what you have is a first generation med. A.L.I.C.E pack with a first generation black frame and kidney pad....the shoulder straps appear to be 2nd generation issue and are placed on the wrong sides ie..right on left and left on right ,but no big deal ...it should also have cords and D-rings inside the mid section under the radio pouch to shorten it to a smaller "day pack"....i think most of us on this board own both the med. and the large A.L.I.C.E packs and pretty much a staple with former Infantry types....vince g. 11b inf..

Is that a dig at the OP?  Not much help to anyone if it is.

I've had my A.L.I.C.E. for a couple years works great, until I can afford something better and more comfortable.

lmao, you are correct sir. The left shoulder strap is tagged as Left and it is on the wrong side. You guys do amaze me sometimes at the details you pick up.
