Ok, fuel. We might have all the toys in the world, but if you have gas, I really think that your king. Some points on fuel. Gasoline from the corner station, has additives, lots of em. These go bad in 6 months or so. Aviation fuel is in many ways much much more superior. No reall addives, lastes for years (I have a friend in the industry, has removed aviation fuel form lines at a storage facility, after over 5 years of sitting the lab tested it as just fine for aircraft). Ok, only down side to aviation fuel, lead, lots of it. So no burning inside people. Ok with that said, heres my tips on getting it. 1, have a manual pump (seen it in "i am legend"), as a former mechanic at a gas station, i can say that even we kept a manual pump, just incase SHTF. 2. Storage tank of some sorts. We all dream of bugging out, but if you had to leave your house right now, how far could you get on a tank, and would you be able to get BACK after its all clear? Tank of 40 gallons or so is a great start. 3. most airports have above ground tanks, so no pump needed, good fuel = my first place to hit in a diaster. 4. Keep in mind that fuel is not just a fuel, its better than money. No one gives a crap about gold or stocks, when they want to leave a diaster area, cook food, or heat a building. Fuel is king. 5. High viscosity fuels like kerosene, and diesel keep for a long time, if taken care of. Both will grow bactera and alge, so an additive known as Prist should be added, to keep it nice and clean. 6. My final recomendation, especially those with land. Keep a large tank of fuel around, most places allow a certian ammount of gasoline to be kept without need a permit. Even 100 gallons is enough to get somewhere safe, keep the family warm or trade for needed supplies. K, thats all, bye, enjoy my 2 cents worth |
I've run an OBDII car on leaded gas before. I'm not sure about the long term effects, but it was fine in the short term. (I had no cats on the car I was running leaded fuel in) |
