I asked this question on someone else's thread, so I will start it here so as not to interfere with his question. I'm looking for a BOB. I think I'd prefer a military style pack under $200. If that isn't possible how about a civilian style pack. Someone had a Blackwater pack on the EE for sale that was a little out of my range but seemed like a good deal. I was considering that pack. |

If your heart is set on a mil style pack, take a look at this Tactical Tailor 3 Day + Or you can go with their molle 3 day and add a couple of large utilities on the sides and maybe a smaller pouch on the front. Tactical Tailor 3Day Once again these are not extended outing BOB's Maybe like 3-5 days. If you have any experience with lightweight options (and the money to afford it) you can squeeze 10 days out of the 3day +. I've done it in moderate temps. Other than that if you like the mil stuff, you can get an ALICE modded up with additional pouches and padded everything as well as a better,lighter frame, but all that would cost you more than $200. Do what I did. Make do with what you have now and save up and buy Kifaru. It will hurt once......only once, and then you will never need another pack as long as you live  Rata |
| Do a search for BOB and I bet you find a dozen threads on BOBs. You could do worse than a plain old large ALICE w/frame, but a 3-day pack would be better for a GHB. Nothing over 2500 cubes for a GHB, the BOB can be as large as you want, but I have a 5800 cube North Face that is a pure - D cast iron bitch to carry when it's full. |
