During Katrina, a friend gave me his old USMC Goretex desert boots. They were extremely comforatable, but they eventually had to be tossed after I got to the back of the lot and contaminated them with raw sewage. I'd really like to pick up another pair, but can't find them anywhere.... Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Did you have the bates with the EGA on the heal? They are expensive. USMC boots |

Here are the bates for cheaper www.bargainoutfitters.com/cb/cb.asp?a=292373&kwtid=223258 |
As an active duty Marine I have to suggest you spend the money and get the Danner boots. They are much better made and wear a lot longer. The other boots go six or eight months and start falling off my feet while the Danners I am wearing right now are over a year old. Granted we may be a little tougher on boots than a lot of people.![]() If you have any friends near Portland Oregon you should call them up and see if they will drop by the factory seconds store for you and get a pair of Danners for cheap but they wont come with the warranty if that means anything to you. www.danner.com/category/military+boots/hot+weather.do?page=2 |
I'll tell you do a 25 mile hike pack gear weapon with both pair then come talk to me! No flam to you at all glazer!! The bellevilles feel a lot better on the feet cause they are a lot lighter then the Danners but I will tell you from someone who has done two 25 mile hikes in the Marines with both pair of boot I'd take the Danners any day! I will say the bellevilles did make good hot weather boots! I bought a pair a Danner Striker 8 GTX boots and they are bar none the best boots I've ever bought! |

i did 15 miles with ruck in 100f temps back in sept on the arfcom SF hike... only problem,,,,to damn haeavy compared to my 3/4 goretex hikers i nomrally wear. sides that ive been wearing them every weekend hunting walking thru water swamps etc. still zero issues. except they aint so "khaki" anymore...... also wear them doing run and guns with a heavy lbv......no issues...yet/. dont own any danners... but for a combat boot the bellviles arent bad, and as said you can get the like new or niw of eghey for cheap. i paid 12-15$ each for both of mine. |
Quantico Boot; no link but a google search will take you right to their website. Quantico Boot is not selling surplus, overstock, or factory seconds. The QB mothership is in Quantico Township proper; thus surrounded by MCB Quantico HQBN, Warfighting Lab, and Security Forces Training Battalion. If they did not treat their customers right, they would have been out of business long ago. They are happy to sell to civilians and former Marines. This is a sturdy boot, and light compared to most 8" boots. This boot serves me well, and I prefer the last that Belleville uses over the last that Danner uses. I prefer the non-insulated version. You know what works, so a "repeat" will probably serve you well. The Vibram soles have stood up well to the rocky desert soil I walk across. |
The OP never said anything about 25 mile hikes with gear and a rifle. I wear my Bellevilles as work boots on concrete all day every day and they will last a hell of lot longer than the Danners and even if bought new are almost half the cost. I stand by my opinion. |

I found several styles of Bates USMC boots for $29.95 www.copshoes.com/c-specials-view-all.html Are these the USMC GoreTex you want? (also on sale for $29.95!) www.copshoes.com/c-specials-view-all-p-B85501SA.html |
I used danners in the Marines on some long humps and got hacked up feet. then I started using my jungle boots with sof insoles and never had a problem. When I joined the guard I got Bellevilles and they were like part of my feet. It all comes down to FIT. some brands fit better than others. All the new boots are so much better than what I had and the internet makes shopping for them so much better. I paid almost $200 for my FT lewis danners back in the day and completely wore them out in two years. I love the new Bates Marine boots though for that gym shoe feeling |
