like to see his exact list and not what he is plugging . ill bet it weighs near or over 30 lbs. Plus the bag he is usieng is only 2200 ci's. his fleece, food, filter will take up most of that , then his FAK, shelter, comms, gps etc. not to bad of a "write up" as he stuck with basics of water,shelter,food..before talking toys... YMMV |

Kind of off topic but I've noticed that some folks stock their bob's with exotic items that may be needed in a dire emergency (like 5 knives, a sharpening stone, and multiguns) but do not stock items for everyday needs. Take your bag on an overnighter, a trip of some sort, if you have a need that the bag cannot fulfill, you may want to consider a change of items. I have a small pouch with toothpaste and brush, comb, vial of soap concentrate, ect. Also wipes and some kind of towel or bandana. I like how the article mentioned socks. I also have a set of spare undies and socks. |

Protus has a point, I have had several bags about the size of the blackhawk and a fleece jacket pretty much fills the whole thing up. It's tough to make much of these without knowing if the guy has ever tried to live out of the bag or if he's carried it all day. Also I'd be curious to see which Garmin he is talking about. I bough the cheap one that is shown (on supposedly the recommendation of an "expert") and it sucked. It would never acquire a signal anywhere but in wide open fields or on a highway. One of my nephews had the same one and said it was useless for casual day hikes. Three liters of water ain't a lot depending on the situation. edit-As being a wee bit older and more to the point, out of shape, on a rough hike I can assure you I'd toss that big extreme ratio pig sticker into the woods by about noon edit2-duh he's hawking that pos GPS I had on another page |
