Back in the day before everyone had MP3 players, cell phones, CD players etc everyone had a small AM/FM transistor radio. Now, while many electronic devices have FM stereo built into them I am having trouble finding a really small AM/FM radio to stash in my BOB. I've been able to come up with an old Sony Walkman with AM/FM radio but it is considerably larger than most MP3 players and comparatively heavy. I also found a FM stereo radio in a pen which is small and light but does not have AM which I think would be important in an emergency. I also already have Grundig World Traveler AM/FM/SW radio for home use. Any suggestions as to a cheap, really small am/fm radio. |

I purchased 2 of these on Ebay... they work great on a single AAA battery! AM/FM Radia Just an option! |

Try this link, was a review of small AM/FM/SW radio here a coupla weeks ago. J |
+1 I got one of these for an old roomate, have never heard a complaint about it. He listens to the SW mostly. |

Sony ICF-S10MK2 punch that into Amazon.com and look at the reviews. I ordered 3 to get the free shipping, they were 10 bucks a piece. I would have to recommend one. Great battery life, unbelieveable reception (for a 10 dollar pocket radio), and sounds decent for a small radio speaker. But a word of warning, these radios are not 'stereo', they are 'mono'. This got a lot of people's panties in a wad, but from my stand point it does not matter one bit. I personally like mono and a ear plug. oh and one more thing, you won't find these in most stores. if anyone is interested, I can do a small review. |
I am generally leary of those cheap Honk Kong/ China type electronics as a whole. I have found that the mini AM/FM radios that I have bought at discount stores get very poor reception, even under the best of circumstances. They are usually better than nothing, but in some instances work about as good as nothing... |
