What type of gas can is this? My neighbor has it sitting in his garage and I was thinking of buying from him. He has no use for it. How much should I offer him? It has a letter "G" and "US" on the side of the can. On the bottom of the can, it has "DOT USMC 20-5-86" The can is rusted on the outside. Can I use it as is?

that is a us army Jerry can. hence the "G". rust on the outside = rust on the inside in my book. so it's worth nothing. ed to say they leak, tip over easily and as you can see they rust which is bad for anything that runs on gas. you can use it to store liquids you don't want like used motor oil. homodepot will sell you a brand new one for about 30.00 with gaskets and spouts but they still leak. i like the poly gas cans that don't tump over. |
