I didn't see this anywhere else. Not made for cuts or scrapes, but rather deep gunshot and stabbing wounds, for which it’s able to stop the flow of blood in under 20 seconds. "By the time you even put a bandage over the wound, the bleeding has already stopped," Pretty cool if it works as advertised. |

It works, pretty well in fact. The only real downside is it's size. It is pretty big and IFAK's are getting smaller, it may be a Medic/Corpsman carried thing like the Junctional Tourniquets. Combat Gauze/Celox Gauze/Chito Gauze and proper wound packing can achieve the same result, just slower with the time needed for pressure applied with those gauzes.
It is FDA Approved for Civilian use as a Class II Medical Device needing a prescription, so right now really only for EMS. It is very expensive right now at like $300. As a Junctional Hemorrhage tool it is a great addition to the Stop The Bleed Toolbox, just needs to be cheaper and available without a prescription. |
