What are your recipes? Anything that works especially well? With the crazy amounts of ticks and skeeters so far this year, I need to crazy on control, but don't want to drown everything in poison. I need to make enough to cover about 4 acres plus grove area.

| I'm in the same boat. I'm just looking to do the front yard and immediately around the house. I have 10 acres but not gonna even try to attempt something that large. On a different note the wife picked up some bar soap made with goats milk and it is keeping the mosquitos at bay when used. I tend not to try drown my kids in deet. |

1 teaspoon of ivory dishwashing soap 1 tablespoon of sam's club extra virgin olive oil 1 gallon of water Contact kill only. Spray it late in the day when it's not super hot. It doesn't work well on thrips, and I don't think it will get stuff like a tomato horn worm. But stuff like white flies, aphids, spider mites, assorted gnats, beetles, it does well. My Dad has used it on wasps, but that can get pretty sporting. It will eventually kill them. Does not work on eggs. You may have to resort to a 5-7 day spray cycle to kill off each successive generation. |

In the directions on the back there are instructions for treating indoor areas, outdoor areas, many other things, and... direct application on dogs. It is not very toxic for cats, though I don't know if it is labeled for use on them like it is dogs. We used Sevin before we used permethrin. I think it was reasonably effective. Just another option for you if the soap treatment doesn't work out. (edited for spelling) |
