This guy used super cheap - thin painters drop plastic.  

6 Mil plastic sheeting is available in black or clear, at local hardware stores.

Yeah that is great for a water blob but for potable water I wouldn't think so.

The oils and chemicals used to make that plastic are not flushed off as they are for sanitary plastics.

Buy boxed wine. Drink afore mentioned boxed wine. Use the  Mylar (or plastic) bag. You can even freeze them.

This. Also, http://www.waterbob.com/. I have 2 of these, one for each bathtub; although, I have yet to have the emergency to use them. I have a blue 55 gal water barrel from Sam's Club on a barrel dolly already filled in the garage. My time to make that homemade one is worth more than $20.
