What say you guys? Up for a good camp this spring? ATVs, shooting camp, event?
Got Ideas? What would you like to do, where, and let's hash it about a bit. We're overdue a good one and something a tad different would be a hoot. Tj |

Sure. Right now I've only got plans for the 3'rd week of April. Times as good as where or what. I've just spent a fortune booking going to the SEC Tournament the week of Mar 12th. This is my mom's 80th and we're making plans for another big bash, which will be end of April. We haven't decided TN or OH yet. You and the Mrs, of course, will be invited. That committs that day but doesn't mean it can't coincide with the travel for a camp. When we all did the VA camp, a fun one for sure, I went to OH after that one. Though I don't mind doing another HOV in TN, I'd rather do something new or someplace new. An HOV would get my buddy from LA to come. He's a Jeep guy so more inline with your Powerwagon and he did bring some fine group food last time. LOL Closer to you and Ops would make it easier on Ops. I think he's a little gunshy of too distant towing after that forced stay at my house and expense a couple years back. I would be. I do have access to a camper now if that means anything. You know me. I'm just as happy in a tent. We can do my mom's and brothers and have the cabin. Then do activities over at the strip mines like canoing, some can camp on the lakes, fishing. Nice fire in both places of course. Other than your favorite, a hike, I'm open for about anything else. Tj |

The thing in April is just truck camping, ramp digging, with maybe a day hike thrown in and I hope to look at some more property while I'm there. You pick a date for this and then I can work the backpacking trips around it. |

Good input guys.
Figuring out the when and where is why we do these preliminary threads. The idea is see who all are in close proximity to each other that show some interest and what timing we can come up with. That will get us a better idea of a where. A where often leads us to a what. Just as an example, there's more than one HOV in WV, I've been wanting to check out and I'm intrigued by their long range goals of connecting them all the length of the state. There's probably something like that in every state. Though hot as hell to the point it was impacting me, I can't even begin to tell you how fascinating the OK camp was to me. Miles upon miles of roads that weren't going in circles, wild horses, and other different wildlife than I was use to, and of course, a good campfire and excellent company that you have way more than one interest in common. All of our camps have had that aspect. Just keep giving input. Nobodies going to hold you to anything. Its just a gauge at this point. Tj |

Quoted: There's ways around that too. If its north, I can meet you at the I77 and I81 split and we can trailer the bike. That's not even out of my way or require me to haul more gear. My diesel wouldn't even know your bikes back there. I've trailered mine all over the US. http://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/25433/2626.JPG I even have a bigger trailer now. Convoying, picking folks up, is as an aspect of this. One camp, Waldo picked up Wsix from Alaska and took him back to his airport. There's an advantage to folks coming from different parts of the country. Yeah was going to try to run into ops the other year on 81 the other year but work messed that up . If I can make it it all depends , I dont mind driving but I normally do about 300 miles a day at work so I would prefer to ride the bike just to get a change of pace . But I know how a dodge is towing , I hardly notice this stuff on mine . ![]() Theres 5 bicycle in the back , along with 35 gallon of water and fire wood . Im going to move the bikes to the grill so I can also fit the motorcycle . ![]() But back to the point yeah can always car pool in one way or another , If I go on the truck I wouldnt mind picking up someone to help out . |

I don't really care what you guys want to do. Any time I can get out and camp for a few days is good. I don't have any 4 wheelers or dirt bikes though. I can be camp cook if you're doing something like that. I've expanded the beer brewing into hard cider, wine and hard lemonade, so there's that. |

With all this white crap on the ground right now and cold temps, you have no idea how tempting it is to come give you a visit right now. You can come visit anytime. Two feet of fluffy bullshit at your disposal. Temps hovering just below zero as an average. You're always welcome. |

Quoted: Now there's an idea too, dragging a canoe or kayak along. I don't think we'd get a big turn out just for that but as a side thing to do, why not? Im hoping we will have my sons operations done by early march so after I could maybe take a weekend to myself . |
|
Quoted: If we're doing an OHV I may be able to borrow my son's F650GS and trailer it down. Otherwise, weather permitting, I may ride down on my street bike. I'll make a max effort, it has been a LONG time.. Ops |

Dang I thought your son had a KLR 650 . The F650GS is a nice ride , I was looking at a aprilla 650 from 2002 I think it was which was a coop project with BMW so it was basicly a BMW 650 with diff body panels for 2800 . Quoted:

Ops Well, this one is up for sale, if you know anyone who is interested. It's a bit tall for me, and prefer cruisers. Still, if we still have it.. Ops |

Depending on direction you are already 45 minutes to 2 hours from the Interstate. Nowhere is close to you.
I did see the perfect beer for this at the beer wholesaler yesterday http://ma.worldclassbeer.com/wp-content/beer_spy/images/prodimages/LongTrail/lSummerSurvivalPack.jpg >> Sunday Morning Bump << Quoted:

I'm up to a 4 maybe 5 hr ride, just depends on which direction. If it's in the right direction, maybe I could meet Waldo, or something like that. As I posted before, just need a when and where, and I'll decide. Depending on direction you are already 45 minutes to 2 hours from the Interstate. Nowhere is close to you.

For instance, I can be to Pittsburgh in about 3.5hrs, I'd be good if it's in WV, pretty much any of VA, the east side of OH, and possibly this end of TN. My truck sucks on the interstate with those tires, and i have no cruise, so it wears you out. Plus Gas is a killer too. |

Interested but not really making plans. Don't care about activities, I manage to fit in one way or the other and I don't care to hang around camp and drink coffee and burn up all the wood folks bring to the campout, hate to have to haul all that stuff back to the house. Between work and family and my mess of vehicles I might make it and I might not. Distance does not really factor in too much, the places mentioned so far are doable. |

So when we going to start discussing location?? Looks like we have plenty of interest ![]() I was just thinking the same thing... It's the camp without a camp. With the responses, looks like Kentucky -- or at least a bump off page two |
