The reactor was decommissioned in 1963 and the entire project was abandoned in 1966 because the ice cap was moving faster than expected and would cause the tunnels to collapse. So I'm guessing if there's anything left it's scrap metal and maybe some holes. Also, it was actually supposed to be a nuclear launch site covering 52,000 square miles with 600 nukes, sprach wikipedia. |
| Some quick Google searches show it was abandoned after ice shifting was more than anticipated. If I recall, the last visit to the sight was in 1969. An accompanying photo showed one of the buildings being slowly crushed by the ice and snow. Really interesting though. |

Actually, I think people visit this place during the summer from the Thule Air Base, which is about 150 miles or so away. I heard them talking about it when I was at TAB back in Oct. 2004. There's not much to see now though. |
