Never mind, There is already a HTF campout scheduled for that month that I was unaware of http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_38/517002_Any_interest_in_a_W_Tenn_Camping_Trip_.html
We tried this a couple years ago and though only one other family came out it was still a great time, even with the rain. Hopefully we can get a better turn out this year. Once again we will go with Natchez Trace State Park here Cub Creek Camp ground #1. This camp area will accommodate up to 25' campers and is still ideally set up for tent camping. Pets are allowed and concealed carry is legal with a permit. You can reserve a camp site here. When: 5/17-5/19 Where: Natchez Trace State Park Cub Creek Camp Ground 1 Natchez Trace State Park Campground 1 has 23 sites for both camper and tents. Tents can be pitched on grass here. $25/night Public bathhouse. 20 and 30 amp electric. Dump Station. Water at all sites. Camp fires allowed at all sites 25 feet and under size restriction for campers. Alternate site for those with campers over 25' Pin Oak R.V. campground up to 80 feet. Activities: There's a lot to do and see at Natchez Trace State Park! Enjoy a picnic at one of our picnic areas, or reserve a picnic pavilion for your family reunion or company picnic. A newly renovated museum is located within Park Headquarters. Exhibits include local and park history as well as a nature center featuring a wildlife viewing area, interactive computer and aquarium. Natchez Trace State Park also offers a variety of natural, historic, recreational, and cultural programs. Activities to enjoy at the park include archery, basketball, horseshoes, ping-pong, firing range, softball, tennis, volleyball, board games (no electronic games), playgrounds and horseback riding. Firing Range Boating Fishing Golfing Hiking Horseback Riding Picnic Facilities Playgrounds/Sports Fields Programs Swimming Details: This camp is open to anyone who would like to attend. If you have friends who are like minded and not forum members bring them along. We would like to keep this a family friendly event. This is a bring your own everything camp (food, gear, etc.). You will need to pay for your own site, etc. You can go to the link above to reserve your camping site. I have reserved Spot 23. If you have a travel trailer or RV that wont fit in Camp Ground 1 (25' limit) you can set up at the RV park and still come hang out at Camp Ground 1. We have tried to keep this as tent/backpacker friendly as possible and opted for a location where tents can be pitched on the grass. Guns: You can now carry in Tennessee State Parks and this includes Natchez Trace. As long as you have a permit from Tennessee or a reciprocating state, you can carry in the park. Long guns are allowed with you while you camp but cannot be kept loaded while in the park. Ammo must be kept separate from the gun. Shoot I'm waiting to get a call back from the ranger over the firing range to find out details on the range. There is no longer any information on the range listed on the website. So I am unsure of fees, rules etc.. When this info is available I will post it up. See bellow. As to a time to get together and shoot I'd like to get input from those attending planning on attending as to a good time for the most folks to come. Tentatively I'm thinking 9:30 am Saturday 5/18. Just heard back from the ranger. The range is open during daylight hours. There is no set fee but they have a donation box. They have target stands but you must bring your own target. Rifles and pistols are fine. No shotguns (they said it tears up the target stands to much). If you plan to go please post in the thread. Also if you have any ideas on improvements to the camp out let us know. If you would like to attend but don't have the gear, let us know. I've got some extra gear I can loan out as I'm sure others do. Don't let gear keep you from attending. We would like as big a turn out as possible. |
