That drives home from work and after a certain point I actually think, "Good. If an emp hits now, I can be home before dark."
Gets home from the grocery store and think, "Good. now we have that much more should the SHTF." Buys ammo and and feels better to add to the stash? |

still dont see why people are so worried about EMP. that is right below "the sun exploding" on my list of things to worry about. It's the wet dream of this forum. At least those that don't understand physics or have read the huge volume of published data from factual sources. I work 4 miles from home (on purpose). |

The Emp thing - Yes The grocery thing - Probably not The ammo thing - No Well, mine are the exact opposite - No, Yes, Yes. There is a high risk of this turning into another EMP shitstorm. I will poke the hive a bit and side with those who rank it slightly below Zombie Apocalypse on the list of things to worry about... I still haven't seen any evidence that the threat is anything like One Second After or the rest of the EMP panic books. I am a little concerned about solar weather but not too much, as I don't think any effects from it will resembler the TEOTWAKI crap many worry about here, more likely some localized outages and communications hiccups if anything at all. And I have yet to hear a plausible scenario in which a real high altitude EMP is successfully deployed against us. Or who would do it. |

When I get to a certain point near home, I feel better because I';m almost home. Now, I worry about my adult kids if a ___________________ disaster takes place. They know to come here and probably would. A weak point is communication if for some reason cell phones are down. YES, but no to EMP.
When I picked up the things that are on my goal sheet for food and supplies, Yes. Normally grocery run, no. Ammo, YES! I don't want to be where I was in 2008. I hoarded all big calibers and shot almost only 22.'s. |

I had 30 gallons of gas turn brown this winter, so I have been using it in my tractor and log splitter. I am going to replace it all at once this week, but I was thinking to myself while cutting grass today that it would be a bad time for shtf cuz i would only have whats in my genny tank and a 5 gallon can of good gas. I was offered a job last month and the thought of being 2 counties away and something happening does not seem appealing to me. I cant take that kinna stress. |
| Amen –– EMP is the last thing we need to worry about. IMHO, when you are TRULY WORRIED about stuff like that, you need to dial it back - - way back to reality. There are things to worry about and prepare for and that can be prepared for - - focus on them –– they will keep you busy enough. |

My reply is in direct response to the question laid out in the title. "Am I the only one who thinks that way about: The EMP thing - Yes, as in yes, your the only one who thinks that way about EMP's and driving home. The grocery thing - Probably not, as in probably not the only one who thinks that way when they get groceries. I know I find a good "bulk buy" when I go for my regular trips sometimes and I do in fact think almost the same. The ammo thing - No, as in no, your not alone in this thinking. Everyone here loves adding ammo to the stash. See brother, we are not exact opposite, we are exactly the same.

EMP, no. But I do make mental notes when I'm X-distance from home based on the idea that if "insert Bad Thing here" happens, I have varying things to look forward to (obstacles, distance, paths to travel) before I get home. The grocary store thing, yeah. I just rotated in X-number of cans, or another 25 lbs of rice, so on. Ammo - it's always a good feeling to bring home more.

Some funny replies to my thread title. I dont lay around and think about emp's all the time as some would make it sound.
Im honestly more jazzed that Ferfal posted something in my thread. I read Fernando's blog and have read a ton of his stuff so thats very cool. Next question - Am I the only one... When my wife points to a house and says something like....I love all those windows! I come come back with something like - yeah but can you imagine trying to defend that house with all those windows?!? I then get the look!
