So it's 3/08 so I thought it would be approprate to start a thread on the .308 and how it
fits in your shtf plan. In mine it's for when I have to take the fight to the source, defend those that can't defend themselves, remember the widow and the orphan. since my load out has been set up for my M1A. So in honor of the .308 where does it fit in your shtf plan. |

It no longer does. I sold my .308 and the several hundred rounds of ammo that went with it. Used the money to help build a 6.5 Grendel AR, which now supplants both my 5.56 and .308. I may get another one some day, but it'll be just because I want one, not for SHTF. |

It's my primary. At 26-1/4 in., it plays indoors or out. I can drive the truck with it while slung in front. The Eotech swaps out with a 3x9 or 6x24 in 7 seconds.
I think I'm just under 6-K for feed. The weight is the obvious drawback, but I'm supposed to be (big strrrong boy...yes? ) Anyone considering swapping over to a shorty-short,short-bully-pup stock, make sure to buy sub-gun iron, sights. (Front sight post is taller) |

I am not all that worried about widows and orphans. I have enough problems worrying about myself.
That does not mean I would entirely ignore others in need, but it just does not figure into my planning much. I have given some thought to how I might handle the problem of the needs of others versus my own (and those close to me) needs. I have come to the conclusion there is no good answer to that problem. In any case, there is no specific caliber for protecting widows or orphans. I do have an M1A though. Nice shooter, although I have not had it out in a long while. |

I use a Browning A-bolt .308 as my deer rifle and enjoy plinking with it as well.
It factors into my SHTF thoughts as a game getter and a standoff overwatch rifle as well. Its light enough to carry around all day and with good glass is a pleasure to shoot. Nothing fancy - A-Bolt Hunter model with a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10 on it. |

You know how hard it is to look at a target with snow going by at 15 power?
Guess you forgot who got a "kill" with your rifle first.
Worked "as advertised". By the way, your dillo is upside down in the case. There....fixed it.
