Just curious as to what most of you guys using as your indications and warnings of when it might be time to bug out?  Especially before it may be too late.

Thanks in advance,
Zach

that is like asking "When should I pull my money out of the stock market right before a crash"

No one knows when to bug out, Each of us have our own "Oh Shit!, time to go" theories.

Mine would be a Katrina type storm that was 100% guaranteed to hit me directly.

If the Nuc Plant starts acting up, who knows, it depends.

Civil un-rest? Depends on what scale it is, most of the "natives" seem to only destroy their own neighborhoods, but if they started migrating north to me, than Id think about it.

Also what is your idea of bugging out? Temporarily or Permanent? When do you quit your job and say F#*K It, im outa here.

THere are too many scenerios, etc.

I completely understand that there are too many scenarios and variables, I was just wanting input on what some people are using as their indicators.   And I think for the most part, primarily temporarily, with the mindset that temporarily could become permanent.

The Clash.

I agree when I safely cannot stay home, or safely leave for work without house and supplies being looted.

There's all kind of bugouts from slow to fast.

If you think of it, we're kind of crazy to stay if we can live somewhere else better, so then time is as much a factor as why.  If we can then becomes a deciding factor.  The better equipped you are to do it, then the lower the threshold in making the decision.

We sure put up with a lot in order to keep what we have.

I already did, about 15 years ago.  Since then we've been expanding/improving our gardens, livestock, etc., in hopes that if the balloon ever does go up, we've at least got a bit of a running start.  It's never too early to become more self-sufficient.

The best time to bugout is 20 years ago. The next best time to bugout is today. After that, you're working on the 3rd best time to bugout.

Durn,  It almost to late.   War this year, 2012. Country going down tube following year.    Need preps now.  Git out of the city now, or have a place to go to in place. Just bugging out with no plan or place is not going to work very well.  Don't just talk about it. Do it.

If your house is being attacked then I would think you are too late. You will easily be killed of you left the house when people are already targeting you.

'Bugged out' about two years ago.  Moved from the city to the country and am constantly working on improving my situation.  I never liked the idea of having to drive somewhere to be safe.  I'd rather be safe every day.

If the people attacking the house know what they're doing, they probably have somebody around back waiting for anybody trying to escape. People always talk about not underestimating the enemy, but they always assume the enemy know nothing about making an attack. If they're attacking your home, why would they want to let anybody escape? There are many reasons to kill everybody, and few reasons to let them live. Additioinally, people trying to escape will be much easier targets than people hiding behind cover shooting back.

And you'd have to think to yourself,Why the hell is my home being attacked?Where did I fuck up?

You are going to have to listen to your gut.
Waiting for the media to tell you it is time is generally a sign that the exodus has already begun.
If it has already begun you are going to be fighting everything that comes from too many people trying to move form one place to another.
Listen to your gut, find a few other people you trust and evaluate the best information you can get, extracting what it means now, and what it will develop into... and create a plan of action based on that info.

Unless we are talking about a fire, chemical, or radiation, I am more likely to dig in than bug out. Almost all the scenarios I see keep me right where I am.
