I'm pretty excited to be picking up this little gem.  It's going to be a great platform to begin my Bug Out/Camping trailer.

Some thing's right off the bat:
Lift and bigger tires. It can have 15 inch rims
Longer tongue
Taller sides but I love the lift up top so that will be staying.
Of course paint, bondo and body work

I can't decide if I want to put a roof rack or a tent platform. I'd like it to be able to haul gear and a couple kayaks.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm building it myself and want to incorporate some good survival/functional accessories and abilities.

I hope to make this a build thread for all to see....

That is cute.

Just some suggestions from the "what I would do if it were mine list."

Make the wheels and tires match the tow vehicle...Doing this is a big expense if the trailer is only used a few times a year, so you have to compare the cost to the utility.

Lift?  Why make the trailer less stable?  If you need to modify the fenders to install tires to match the tow vehicle, then modify the fenders.

Paint...Yes do that.

Is this a pickup bed trailer?

Well, their will be two tow rigs.... But I think I'll try to match my Wrangler's wheels.

Not a truck bed I know of. It was a wire line scope thing... (The guy told me it was used to put a camera on the end and go down oil pipe and pipe shafts?)

I've never seen one before but it screamed "Perfect!"  As far as the lift, I just want it high enough to match the tow rigs. It's sitting low and it won't be very tall. I want it to be able to hold up to a trail.

Cool. that thing has tons of potential.

As far as lift, just do a SPRING OVER AXLE. this will gain 2-3 inches. That is what I did. To make it more stable, put some shocks on it, if it doesnt already have some. Really easy to weld shock mounts.

Keep us posted on progress.
