Wheel kit, schmeel kit. When I bought my cheap Champion, the wheel kits were an additional $30. Seems like places like to include wheel kits and a cover now as a "Bonus!", but that wasn't the case back when I bought. So, cheap ass that I am, I passed on it and figured I would just pick it up and carry it whenever I needed to move it. Well, lazy ass that I am, I'm not as strong as I used to be, and found that I didn't enjoy carrying it around as much as I thought I might, so I have generally avoided moving it. The other week I was at Fleet Farm, and cheap lazy ass that I am saw a 1200lb furniture dolly for $20 and picked that up. Cheaper than the wheel kit, and if I ever need the dolly for something else, then I can take the generator off and use it. Multi-purpose! Wouldn't be very good for rolling across the grass, but it loves the concrete.

The hard part is blocking it up securely so it wont wander while running.

Other than that, it sounds like you worked it out.

its the whole grass thing that turned me away from it.

i went a step further and found an old lawnmower, took 4 wheels and studs. I bolted angle iron to my genny frame, attached my free wheels it and now i can roll the unit anywhere.

The inlet I'm eying up (50 amp RV outlet that NEVER gets used) is just outside my garage, so hypothetically, I should never have to roll it across grass. I would probably take it off the dolly to run to make sure it's on the rubber bumpers.

The lawn mower idea is pretty clever.

My genny is on a cheap furniture dolly with two lag screw holding it in place. Without the lag screws it will move around on the dolly, possibly falling off when running. It was also a pain to roll around before it was fixed to the dolly.
