Woman stole food storage.

The story itself is short and not really what is important here.

READ the comments section.

And these are people in Utah?

Troubling that the people condone stealing. They really should mention whether the thief had a nice car, plasma screen, or cell phone. People sure seem to be giving of other peoples stuff.

Prepper had bad OpSec.
The neighbor deserves time in the county hotel for what they did.
There are a lot of people making comments on that site that will also be unprepared and depend on the .gov to care for their basic needs. When the .gov can't care for them they will turn to those who have prepared. Some already admit that they will steal from their neighbor to eat. If my neighbor asks me for food I will feed them. Then I'll show them how to get their own food. If you steal from me its as much as starving me. There will be repercussions.

I had a neighbor not working (other than on a bogus disability thing) who had a few kids and said he needed some help and could use a deer.  I got one that was shot illegally and gutted properly and tried to give it to him as he asked.

He was annoyed that I didn't have it cut and wrapped for him. (He said he'd butcher them in the past and sitting home on his ass all day he certainly had the time)  Hell it was still steaming when I pulled in his driveway.  He said he didn't want it unless it was cut and wrapped.     I gave it away to someone else.

My point is some people want it the easy way and refuse to help themselves.

I'm not completely heartless.  Their teenage son tended to walk over to my house when I was grilling out.  I had no issue feeding a hungry kid whose parents would drink all their food money at the bar.

I agree with the person who posted in the comments section of the article who said, it wasn't an issue of hunger.
Theif probably just saw a chance to get something for nothing at their neighbor's expense.
If it was motivated by hunger, it is still no excuse.

Most people won't let you starve, and I wouldn't let most people starve either. If one person says no, one will be along soon that will help.
Moral of the story is, ask.....don't steal.
