| Eton - American Red Cross Solarlink FR360 AM/FM/NOAA Radio with Hand Crank these any good. |

I would skip the hand crank type entirely. Most 2x AA or 4xAA radios will go 30-50 hours on a set of batteries.
If you do not need SW, check out the RCA Super Radio. They are analog with huge sound, excellent FM and even better AM receivers. Battery life is almost infinite. If you need SW, Kaito 1103 or Sony 7600. |

so is there any radios like that, that are decent. I use two at home: 1. A cheap wall-plug/battery-backup Midland WR-100 NOAA weather alert radio and, 2. Grundig FR-200 battery/crank dynamo AM/FM/SW radio. Both work fine for their intended purposes. If I were buying a radio today I'd buy one of these: Sangean DT-400W This Eton radio reviews almost as well as the Sangean and is 1/2 the cost ($30). |

This is the best-est advice in the whole wide world! 50 hours on a single set of AA alkaline cells is no problem for most portable AM/FM radios - and some of them will do well over a hundred hours. You probably keep AA cells around the house for other purposes anyway, so it's not too likely that you'll run out of 'em when you need 'em. One example: The Sony ICF-S10MK2 - Inexpensive, good performance, and decent battery life. |
