Used the search function and didn't see anything posted recently on Char-Cloth, so I thought I'd pass along this little video.  Probably old news to many of you, but there are certainly some, like myself who are seeing it for the first time.

I thought he did a good job of showing how easy it is to make char-cloth (used to start fires while camping/ surviving in the outdoors)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Char_cloth .

A few of these in a sealed bag and your firesteel and you're able to make fire anywhere any time.

Or just save your dryer lint and vaseline.  :)

Good post. My dad used to do that when I was in boy scouts. We occasionally went full retard with an actual piece of flint and a u-shaped steel. Char cloth was essential in that case as it would catch the tiniest spark.

Char rope is another and is more dense and compact compared to cloth.
