Well I need some more storage at the BOL. I'm looking for a 30x40 with two garage doors.

With work, the one thing I dont have is time.  I was looking at some metal polebarn kits.  Carolina Carports are one of the companies that sell them.

Does anyone have any experience with these?  how long will they last? etc?

Thanks

Building a wood framed pole barn won't cost you any more than a steel one.  I've managed to build one without it falling down..

My metal building is 30x40, all wood frame construction w/ concrete floor and it's at least 25 years old w/ no significant sign of deterioration of the wood where it's buried.  The color of the metal has faded and the fiberglass ridge vent is shot to hell, but the framing is sound.

In this area, you can pick up a kit, w/ metal trusses 30x40x12 for around $5k.

My concern with the wood frames is the deterioration of the poles where they are buried.  Thats good to know.

I recently built a pole barn and obviously we get alot of moisture around here. I poured a concrete footing in a 18" dia./ 5' deep hole and back filled with 3/4 minus up to surface level. By not having any dirt in the hole, any water drains away.
