Unless TEOTWAWKI really happened, I don't plan to be doing any gardening, but still. What do you guys think. Should I buy it just to make myself feel good?

You should try some gardening before you start depending on it for survival, but even if you don't you could stock up on seeds. It's a lot cheaper to just buy your own seeds and store them yourself than to buy a "collection" from somewhere else. If you buy them yourself you can make sure you get the rarieties you like and also get seeds better suited to your area.

I've got a package of "Non Hybrid" seeds from survival seed bank.  I hope I never need'em...

Not to rain on your parade but when TSHTF it will be to late to learn to garden...just saying...
but I would get them from the local feed and seed or farm supply, got to be cheaper than prepacked assortments from (insert name).

start off small with a couple of raised bed planters. that way you can get the hang of gardening. just putting seeds in the dirt isnt going to cut it if the time comes.

I agree with RR that your chances of a good harvest are slim if you delve into gardening only when SHTF. With that said, buy them. You never know what fate may bring, and it might just be a master gardener who is just looking for some seeds to plant. Can't plant 'em if you don't have 'em.

I bought them and put them in my freezer.  We have a garden every year, but won't use these seeds.  They are heirloom seeds and are not the weaker hybrids.

If you're going to buy individual seeds, buy either non-hybrid or certified heirloom seeds.

Gardening is more than just throwing seeds in the ground.  It takes practice, things can go bad before you even know there is a problem.  I have wasted a lot of time and money over the years trying to learn how.

FWIW i had a bad batch of hybrid cucumbers bought locally last year, not the first one came up. So i used my heirloom cuke seeds from www.heirloomseeds.com and every single seed sprouted. I hated to thin them but I will be ordering again from them. Properly packaged and reasonably priced.
