I picked up some water pur tablets with a manufacture date of 12/5. Do you think these tabs are GTG or should I chuck them in the trash? Thanks in advance.

Are these commercial tablets or something military?

I'm only familiar with the commercial tablets sold at sporting goods/outdoor stores.

Generally, if they've been left out in hot weather (like in Texas in your garage with your other camping stuff), they will get all clumped together in the bottle.  That's when I chuck them. Admitedly, there's really no science behind my answer.

They are military surplus that came in a couple med kits i picked up at a local fun show a while back. The bottle was sealed with wax which i removed and open it to find the tablets in good order.

I would imagine that the military anticipated long storage life (in properly stored conditions), like they do on MRE's and such.  Therefore, I think they'd be GTG unless there is something I don't know about the shelf-life of Iodine, which is the primary ingredient in most water purification tablets.
