My eyes have gone down hill just a bit. After all of these years of reading schematics in bad lighting with tired eyes, I began to have a little trouble seeing up close. So I got reading glasses a few months back. I want to grab a few pairs of cheap backups (one for the truck, one for the shop, one for the BOB etc), so that I don't have to carry my good pair around, and wind up breaking or scratching them. I do have the prescription. Anyone order glasses online? Who would you use? Thanks |

I've used zenioptical a couple times already. The only PITA is measuring the width of eyes yourself so someone else should do it. They say how to do it on their site. These are regular prescription glasses, not reading glasses of course.
Also, most prescription reading glasses can be found at Dollar Tree, Dollar general, Walmart and such. Not specific to each eye, but it gets the job done |

I did mean prescription, but wrote reading glasses. :) I tried the simple magnifiers at walmart, staples, and they didn't really work for me. |

Thanks all. I'm playing around with Zenni. I uploaded a pic of my ugly mug, and I'm trying them on now :) FWIW, I found the sizing relationship is way off on the photo deal. For me, the superimposed glasses were way too big on my pic. I'd recommend you pay attn to the stated dimensions. |

Consumer reports gave high marks to the optical centers in some BJ Wholesale clubs.
Might not hurt to go to the library and have a look at their latest issue that has an eyewear write-up in it. I've been doing business with these folks for years:http://hidalgos.com/. Reading their catalog will tell you more about things you should know about eyeware than you thought possible. Nice folks, and good prices. At least read the catalog before you do anything. Sad to say, but in all probability, your days of using iron sights accurately are drawing to a close, so better plan on using some types of optics in the future. |
