I was trying to figure out how to use Truecrypt on a flashdrive when youre not using your computer (bugged out or whatever).

ETA: Found the solution; After you have downloaded and installed T/C, open the application and go tools, then select "Traveler setup".

Place that on your flashdrive before you do any encryption.

It will install the .exe file onto the flashdrive so you can then get your ebcrypted files from your flashdrive.

TrueCrypt has a portable version. You copy the application to the flash drive with the data on it. That way you are never without the application.

why delete your original question?  why not post the solution you found?

did it occur to you that perhaps someone else has or will have in the near future the very same question?  or perhaps this thread might even introduce someone to TrueCrypt upon seeing your anticipated use of it?

do your part and fight SF entropy ––> ask a question, and then post the answer if you found one.  simple.

otherwise we will end up with an entire forum consisting of threads that start with a post that only says "Found answer."

I loved truecrypt. I used it back in the early 2000's when I was a security engineer for Honeywell. We encrypted emails and files and partitions.

What was funny was my boss recently came over from Lucent/ATT and was not happy we encrypted emails. He was left out of the loop and didn't like it. He finally agreed that when doing investigations that could turn criminal, it was probably better to encrypt.

He was an ass, threw me under the bus to save himself some ego and got turned down by the FBI after they interviewed a good friend for background, and friend told them about how he treated his underlings. You know, revenge - served cold....

Now I have to see if they have a mac os version. I miss it.

The latest version works with Mac.  I haven't had the guts to encrypt my entire drive yet, though (on the Mac). All of the PC's are encrypted.

for a thumb drive you might want to install the windoze, Mac and Linux versions so it will work on any machine you may find.

just make sure it's standard PC format. if you use Mac formatting the PCs won't be able to read it.
