You might have seen the news about the tornados in South Eastern WI. Here is my personal notes.

I wrote up a bunch of stuff but it was becoming very long winded so I just keep it short.

Rundown:
Power was out for 24hrs, heat was low 90s, high humidity. Lots of downed trees. I'm on well water.

Things that were very useful:
Generator - Extremely useful for my mini shtf. This was well worth it, saved all of my frozen food, kept all of the babies food/milk cold. Although I have a bunch of stable food, this was super nice to have. I could also run the sump pump and the dehumidifier. Internet was down even tough I powered up all the networking equipment. 6kw gen used less fuel then I thought, ran it about 10 hours total and used ~3 gal of gas. I thinking about getting a backup to the one that I have because it was so useful. Some SF members downplay the generator, it was VERY nice to have. I am going to see about making mine quieter, it was easy to tell mine was running.

Rechargeable flashlights- Again only useful if you have a gen, but I have flashlights that came with my milwaukee tools and it was great to not have to use the regular flashlights.

Chainsaws - What can I say, if you have trees, own a chainsaw (or three). I used my lighter (024av super) saw much more because the heat was killing me.

Gas - gens and chainsaws use gas. Have as much as you can safely store I guess.

Candles - Nice to put in the central spot

propane portable grill - cooked all the meals on this as well as warming up baby's milk.

Water - Used it to flush the toilets

Cell Phones - It was kinda nice, I got three calls after the storms ripped by to see if we were alright.

Things I wish I had:

Small battery powered radio with a speaker.

Generator tied into the house - would have been nice to cycle the house fan or run the well pump, maybe the AC.

Thats about it.
