There havent been any answers to this because unfortunately the answer is "not really". Essentially you would have to replace the head.  Apparently there are some aftermarket ones on ebay... but I would imagine that they are pretty crappy.

I saw some Surefire Kl4 (100 lmns) heads on ebay a few weeks ago for 65 shipped. Unfortunately they are not there anymore. Ofcourse any of the heads directly purchased through surefire are basically the same prices as a new E2D LED. so......

The long and short of it is, if you cant find a great deal on a surefire head, there is really no "inexpensive" fix to this problem.

The KX2C LED is the same one that's on the x300, E2D LED, the scout light, etc.

It has a much stronger hot spot and less spill than the victor light.

That said, it's more expensive, and for the price I'd just get a whole new flashlight.

I wouldn't buy a KL4 ... I had a scout light with this old lamp, and it sucked compared to what is available today.

I really like that they were smart enough to give that conversion two modes. Too bad you can buy a regular Quark 123-2 from 4sevens.com for $69 and it totally spanks that light for run time with the super low modes.

I would buy one of these instead and never look back. I momentarily considered buying one of those conversion for a E2d I gave my nephew, but he would be better off with a Quark with better performance over all.

Sometimes it's hard to get value by putting lipstick on a pig.

Fenix is our go to now, with some of the 6P and 9P SF's converted to LED with heads from ebay for +/- $11. They're OK but I still pick up the Fenix's when I get serious.

That LD10 is a great little light. I both the LD10 and LD20.

I am pretty high on the quarks right now since they have a much lower low mode with absolutely massive run time. Their regular line has about the same UI as the LD10, but several more modes.

I have a LD20... great little light. What do you think about using an LD10 as a AR weapon light? I like to keep my batt stocks "uniform" like my ammo stocks, so don't really want a CR123 light.

eta; sorry about the hijack

I would consider just buying a Fenix TK11 or TK12 and being done with it. Buy your batteries from 4sevens and its free shipping over $20. Unless you are doing classes, $19 for 10 batteries will run you many years.

None of the AA lights are the right size for light mounts and the regular switch has to be replace with a momentary for AR use.
