i picked a LaRue OBR, but of the two options, the REPR, please...

* cheap mags in the form of magpul LR20s, mag, are compatibile with with the following gun models: Mk11/M110, KAC SR-25, DPMS LR-308, LMT 7.62 MRP, Larue Tactical OBR, LWRC REPR, POF P-308, others?. however, they are NOT compatible with Armalite AR-10 or M14/M1A variant rifles.

* likey shared major parts compatibility with many on the same list from above. looks like we're seeing an exciting time here in the large framed AR word as many companies are starting to standardise. Armalite and Noveske are the two most notable exceptions(only two i personally know of, aside from Bushmaster / Rock Rivers designs, and Rock River looks as they're going pretty proprietary) staying behind in the old Armalite camp, many other top end manufactures are moving toward standardising on or real near the SR-25 / DPMS pattern camp.

* some shared parts compibility with standard AR15s(lower receiver parts, and sights anyway), and ease /cost efficieny(over the FNAR) of finding spare / replacement parts

* familiarity of platform and manual of arms and operation, if you are already an AR owner / shooter, or have prior .mil service(or LEO, should they have adopted patrol carbines in the AR platform as many depts. are doing now).

* the AR-10(okay so if it's not technically an Armalite it's not an AR-10) is going to be much more likely to be easily customiseable to the end user(lots of support and tons of aftermarket products of all sorts) than the FNAR...

JMHO, and YMMV...

anyone elses browser window act all wonky if they fill the box full of text and try to scroll down and type more than the initial text window box with out the up/down scroll bar?...

i found someone(not me) writing a review and speaking on the pros and cons of the FNAR [ my reply to each in red] found here: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bcESAdBZxAI/S7iPqLoIRPI/AAAAAAAAAf4/OjZTB0wvBCY/s1600/FNAR_Review_3rd_Range_Test_25.JPG&imgrefurl=http://arealmansreviews.blogspot.com/2010/04/fnar-review-posts-pros-cons-and-bottom.html&usg=__EElLOArrURJhrxPd1eX5jfUyMBs=&h=296&w=1200&sz=100&hl=en&start=20&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=extq2NcyNjXxxM:&tbnh=37&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfnar%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4TSHB_enUS234US234%26tbs%3Disch:1

Pros:

An automatic that will shoot 1 MOA out of the box (checkout the fourth range test) [so will most quality ARs in .308, from many of the manufactures listed above]
Descended from Browning BAR for reliability and durability [that is cool, but ARs are now the .mil standard and .308 ARs are starting to win .mil contracts left and right]
Automatic action helps absorb recoil and is fun to shoot [yep, same with an AR in .308]
5, 10, 20 round magazines available [so will most quality ARs in .308, from many of the manufactures listed above eventully, and if not magpul mags are fairly easily modified to only accept X number of rounds, our brother behind the lines in CA, NJ, NY and other have set up a varitble small cottage industry modifing pmag in 5.56 so that they can have legal mags]
Fully adjustable butt stock to a shooters preference [so will ARs in .308, more adjustable AR stock designs than i can list ]
Nice trigger pull [so will most quality ARs in .308, from many of the manufactures listed above]
An autoloader with character.  The look of a hunting rifle with the extras of a tactical rifle. [ok, the FNAR is admitadly much more FUDD freindly... i most folks don't live in an area where folks really notice a defference like "OMG that guy has an evil AR10!" and "oh, that guy with a gun, it's ok, that's just a hunt'in rifle." guns are excepted and ok or they are not, imho]
Control and comfort of a pistol grip [yep, so do ARs in .308]
Rail ready for those night time hunts [so are ARs in .308]
Competitive price when compared to other .308 rifles that claim 1 MOA out of the box [maybe, but not really MSRP is what $1500ish a DPMS AR in .308 wouldn't be my first choice by a long shot, but it'd sure be in the price range. LMT .308s list in the $2500 prie range and you are definatelly looking at quality there. the brits just awarded them with a nice contract.]

Cons:
Magazine costs - In time, I can see these coming down, especially if someone can make an aftermarket magazine. Current pricing is about $65 to $80 per magazine and there doesn't seem to be a price difference between the 5, 10 and 20 round magazines. [magpul LR20 pmags for the win]
Small Gun Case - Honestly this has nothing to do with the gun and at least the gun case is not a custom molded one that is not usable with another rifle. Since it can be used for another rifle, maybe this is actually a pro. [meh, a rappy ase is a crappy case, no big deal there]
More difficult to strip and clean than a typical AR style rifle [yar, winner winner chicken dinner]
